FIRST CHOICE

In a recent poll by the FFRP (France’s main walkers’ organization), the GR34 Baie de Morlaix was voted by far the most popular coastal walk in France. This is a well-deserved accolade for a stunning stretch of littoral, which is covered in the English guide The Saints’ Shore Way. This not only gives excellent maps and details of the route, but also has information on all the many things to discover along the way. The numerous connections between Great Britain and Brittany over the centuries are highlighted, starting with the Age of Saints, when many holy men arrived on these shores to evangelize and create settlements still in existence today.

It is possible to follow this exceptional journey in 5-7 days, starting from Roscoff and ending in Lannion, which has a train link (via Morlaix) back to Roscoff, meaning you don’t need to bring a car over. Just get off the ferry and start walking!
